Widget Co-Driver Joins Sierra Rally Team for Full 2000 Season

Pirelli, a world-renowned manufacturer of performance tires, has chosen to sponsor the Sierra Motorsport rally team for the entire 2000 season. Pirelli, well-known for it's competition tires, carried Noel Lawler and Charlie Bradley to their 1999 SCCA ProRally national championship.

"We're delighted Pirelli has chosen to sponsor our team this season, reported driver Mark Nelson. "Reliability and strength are critical factors in a a rally tire and Pirelli provides both."

Navigator John Dillon added "I've been using Pirellis on my street cars for years. In fact, the first tires I ever bought were Pirelli Cinturatos back in 1974. I have always enjoyed their superior performance."

According to crew chief Murray Thomas, "This high performance race car demands high performance tires, and Pirelli fits the bill perfectly." Dillon commented on Pirelli's durability, saying "Nothing is more frustrating than a flat tire on a fast stage--it breaks your concentration and kills your stage times." Said Nelson, "We're confident that the new Pirelli will keep us on stage, on time, with no trouble."

Sierra Motorsport campaigns a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IV in the SCCA ProRally Championship series. The car (number 110 in the national series) is classified in Group N, an FIA category recently adopted by the SCCA. The "Evo" was originally prepared by Ralliart New Zealand and is now supported by TAD Motorsports and Sierra Motorsport. Be sure to check out all the rally action on the Speedvision cable network.
