This weekend in Colorado, the Widget Rally Team of Lauchlin O'Sullivan (driver, San Francisco, CA), John Dillon (codriver, Thousand Oaks, CA) and Denise McMahon (team manager, Lakewood, CA) intends to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina to rally on. With the support of Rally America and Jim Gill, chairperson of the Colorado Cog Rally, Widget challenges all Cog competitors to pledge $2.00 or more per stage finished on each day of the rally.
Widget, with funding from Rally America, has printed two stickers per rally car for those teams that would like to show their support during this event headquartered in Steamboat Springs, CO. These stickers will be available to teams at no charge at registration. The donation container and team sign-up form for the pledge drive will be also be at registration on Thursday.
If you registered on Thursday or Friday and forgot to get in on the pledge drive, contact Denise McMahon at Parc Exposé or at the service area (car #90). She will also be at the Sunday evening award party if you just want to donate. She will collect the teams' pledge drive checks at the awards party.
The Widget Rally Team encourages volunteers and race fans to contribute as well.
Denise will announce the total collected at the Awards Party and will send all donations to the American Red Cross. Included with the donations will be a letter telling them how we raised this money to help families, children or individuals to rebuild their lives and rebuild those affected areas.
Please make checks payable to the American Red Cross and write "Hurricane Katrina Victims Fund" in the memo section of your check.
Thank you for your support, and thank you for helping Katrina's victims to "rally on."
