Frazier Park, CA. Fresh from a come-back victory in Idaho, Brian Scott (Pine, AZ, driver) and John Dillon (Thousand Oaks, CA, codriver) took the lead in the 2008 California Rally Series (CRS) championship with a podium finish at the Gorman Ridge Rally on August 16th, part of the United States Rally Championship series. They finished second overall behind a Colorado team.
"This year's Gorman is probably the roughest of the championship, but Doug at Race Technik prepared the car to take the punishment," observed the driver. "The organizers cut out the roughest section after discovering that it hadn't been bladed, but we were ready to run there too. This Subaru is absolutely solid!"
The decision to run Gorman came at the last minute after the team realized they had a real shot at the national title. "We knew we could do well here, and the next event, Prescott in October, is traditionally a good one for us too," Dillon remarked. "Suddenly a chance to win the national championship was a real possibility."
Scott added, "Jeff [Regester] and Duncan [Smith] had us covered this weekend, but we're content with second—for this event! We'll get 'em next time."
Dillon also pointed out "It was the first time Regester and Smith had finished an event in almost 18 months, so we're happy for them."
Next up on the calendar is the Prescott Rally in October. Scott and Dillon won the event last year and hope to do the same in 2008.
