NOTES:
1 Oct 2003: Water splash and jump removed. Concerns about the track surface have led the track owner to decide against adding a jump and water splash to the front section of the Rally Sprint course. There are still two mild "jumps" in the back section of the course, but they are very gentle, more like "Magic Mountain" at Buttonwillow Raceway Park than a proper rally jump. Road racing cars and street cars should have no difficulty in negotiating these small jumps.

26 Sep 2003: Revised Schedule. With the blessing of Perforce Software, sponsor of the Perforce Software Rally Sprint and Rally Cross, and at the request of Jim Pluhar, PR Director for Santa Maria Speedway, the Rally Sprint and Rally Cross events have been combined into a single day.

All competition will now happen at the Santa Maria Speedway on Saturday, 11 October 2003, with early registration still available on Friday night, 10 October 2003.

This schedule change will make it easier for competitors who have to travel long distances by giving them all day Sunday for returning home, while also making "the show" more interesting for the fans. Additionally, the fans will now be able to participate in the Rally Cross without having to return to the speedway the next day.

The revised schedule is shown above.

23 Sep 2003: Revised routebook posted. With the help of Pat and Denise McMahon and the track management, we've refined the course layout for the Rally Sprint to make it a little faster, more flowing, and more entertaining for the fans. The revised routebook has been posted here.

22 Sep 2003: Nomex encouraged. After consultation with the event steward and track management, we've decided that fire-retardant racing suits are strongly recommended, but not required, for Rally Sprint entries. However, if you choose to skip the Nomex, be sure to wear materials like cotton or leather rather than nylon.

20 Sep 2003: Historic Santa Maria Inn offers racer rates. If you ask for the "Santa Maria Speedway" rate, you can get a $69 (old building) or $89 (new building) rate at the Historic Santa Maria Inn. There is NOT an official race headquarters, but this is a nice place. However, trailer parking is difficult at this hotel. Other hotel options include Motel 6, Holiday Inn, and many small, private places along Main Street.

4 Sep 2003: Perforce Software Sponsors Event! Entry fees reduced! Perforce Software signs on as title sponsor. Entry fees have been reduced by a hundred bucks and trophies will be awarded to the top three cars in each class.

4 Sep 2003: Schedule revised: The schedule has been revised to eliminate the dinner break and let everyone sleep in a bit later in the morning.

31 Aug 2003: Routebook will be slightly revised: The route book for this event will undergo some revisions after a course change is finalized. Expect to see the changes sometime after September 20th.

30 Aug 2003: Andy Magallon named Chief Scrutineer: Andy has agreed to be the Chief Scrutineer for the Rally Sprint. With the blessing of Ron Wood who normally leads the tech inspection effort, Andy will head the team that insures all race cars will be safe to compete.
